Description of RTD activities
Faculty for Veterinary Medicine is an academical organisation with 3 Institutes (Food, Diseases and Biomedicine and reproduction). The faculty has an expirience and capacities in diagnostic and control of varios animal diseases, food control and animal reproduction. Until now there have been realized a numerous international and national projects, among these projects is the project Upgrading and introduction of sustainable diagnostic tools for the major transboundary diseases of animals in F.Y.R of Macedonia which was part of the FP 6 program. In order to respond to the needs for diagnostic disease and food quality control the Faculty for veterinary medicine has accreditation laboratories with appropriate equipment.
The Department for Animal hygiene and environmental protection is part of the Faculty for veterinary medicine and the main priorities are: animal hygiene and housing, animal sanitation - disinfection and pest control, controlling the micro clime condition for animals, disease prevention in livestock production, animal welfare, animal production and environmental protection. Environmental protection in livestock production is introduced few years ago, so the priority on this subject is to start different researches and practical implementation of gain knowledge among farmers.
